The Ormskirk & District Family History Society welcomes people with family history, genealogy, and local history interests in and around Ormskirk. The Society covers the ancient Parishes and Townships of WESTERN LANCASHIRE including:
Aughton, Bickerstaffe, Burscough, Downholland, Halsall, Hesketh with Becconsall, Lathom, Lydiate, Maghull, Melling, Ormskirk, Rufford, Scarisbrick, Simonswood, Skelmersdale and Tarleton (The areas roughly covered are in green on the diagram opposite).
We meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month (excluding December when there is no meeting) at the Guide HQ, Moorgate, Ormskirk at 8 pm with various speakers and topics (see the meetings page for future meeting details). Non members can attend for a fee of £1.
Our Research Library is now located at the Scout Hall, Wigan Road, Ormskirk - see the find us page to see a map of the area, showing the locations of both the Guide HQ and Scout Hall.

You can email us on secretary[at]odfhs.org.uk, but for queries other than about our Society can Members quote their Membership Number otherwise a Donation would be greatly appreciated!
If you have the North West as your starting point, or have some information linking to the North West then this is where we can be of help to you. Our Society holds monthly meetings with varying topics from General Research to items of particular interests from the Local Area, we publish 3 journals a year, items for sale to aid research - something for everyone! What can start out as a curiosity can end up as a rewarding hobby!
You may know where your parents came from, even maybe your Grandparents but have you ever wondered WHO they came from? You may know your Grandparents or who they were but who were their parents? Uncles, Aunts, brothers, sisters etc? Where did they live, their Jobs? The lists can be endless!
