Hi, Annette,My brother Charles lives in Ilfracombe now, but he knew Monica like I did, I visited Elm Place two or three times with my Mother to see Monica, she was confined to the down stairs, as she had lost a leg, so she was in a wheelchair, I must say she was always cheerful, when I saw her anyway. My Email is ;-smudge@mcb.net. Regards Eric Smith

FAO Stephen Twist
Going by what you've added about James Twist junior, I'm wondering whether he had "reduced" his age by a few years when he got married. The 1851 census says he is 24 and Mary is 21, but on the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks site, there is a christening of a James Twist on 6 Jul 1823 at Ormskirk to James and Margery of Scarisbrick.
Maybe it's possible that James reduced his age or even that he didn't know exactly when he was born. Interestingly, if James senior and Margery are the right parents, they were living at Narrow Moss, Scarisbrick in 1841 and 1851, each time with other people called Rimmer. So there might be a family connection there?

I am looking for some help locating James Twist who had a son, also called James b. 1826. James Jnr was married at St Andrews in 1849 to Mary Mercer - but that's all I have found so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Eric, our connection is through Louisa Smith nee Rothwell. Monica is the daughter of Louisa and Thomas Edward Smith(My grand uncle).Your mother Doris was the niece of Louisa. You are the grand nephew of Louisa and I was her grand niece. I hope all this makes sense. Does your brother Charles still live in Elm Place? Does he remember any of the Smith or Bibby's that lived there? My e-mail is chasann@talktalk.net. Kind Regards Annette

Hello Eric Smith thank you for your message. I do not know any of the names you mentioned so I am not sure if we have a connection. What number Elm Place did your brother Charles live at? My father James Smith was born at No10 Elm Place in 1896 his parents were John Smith and Mary Jane Bibby. John's and Mary's parents also lived in Elm Place. Was Charles related to anyone that lived in Elm Place? Regards Annette Daly.
