Hello Walter,
I asked a couple of our members who were born in Maghull for information on the Weint, which they were both very familiar with. The correct name of the Weint is Gordon Avenue, apparently it is off Liverpool Road North, Maghull, just before the Methodist Church. They also told me that the Coach and Horses pub used to be on the corner of the Weint but it has now moved.
Hope that helps.
Secretary, ODFHS

I wonder if any of your members have ever come across The Commercial Hotel Ormskirk while researching. I have had no luck up to now in finding any mention of where it was situated. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for direction of where a house named La combey /Acombey(spelling?)in Church Street Formby was situated. We were evacuated to Formby from about 1940-45 and stayed at this house but we cannot find anything about it and do not know the owners name or house number.
The other house was number 2 Green Lane which we have seen. Our name was Devonald, and it would be nice if anyone remebers mother. My Brother and one sister was christened at Our Lady Of Compassion and I have just received their baptismal lines from there.

Has anybody heard of a place in Maghull called The Weint? This name appears on my wife's mother's Birth Certificate as her address (in the year 1900). We haven't been able to find any other reference to the place name and wonder if it still exists

I am looking for any links or information regarding the name LEATHAM (possibly a carpenter / furniture maker), my Grandfather was given the name Leatham, he was born at 133 Bispham Road, Southport, Ormskirk District in 1915, his mother was a domestic servant from Shropshire and she returned there after the birth.
I know from the 1901 census that the HOWARD family lived at this address, but that was some 15 years before.
Any help appreciated, he may have been Christened in Southport before they returned to Shropshire.

Could anyone tell me how to get access to Catholic BMD records for Ormskirk? I am interested in the Voce/Vose family from Bickerstaffe and believe them to be catholics.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks
