Mary and Jane Wareing - reply to Msg 179
Anne - There's a Mary E Waring 24 and Jane 7 in the 1901, both b Ince, boarders living with Joseph and Elizabeth Melling in Aspull. If this is them them, then I fear that they're not related to my Wareings, who came from Scarisbrick.
Good luck. - Keith

Walter Leather Rylance
14 Westbourne Road Birkdale Southport. (1911 Census)
I am trying to trace decendents of Walter.
He was in Western Australia prospecting for Gold in 1895-1902 and returned to England .
I have compiled a book on Walters friend John Aspinall who was killed by lightning in 1896.
Does anyone know anything about Walter please

I have just started to research our family histort (suprise, suprise). My Grandmothers maiden name was Graham - she was borne Marie Winifred. The family seems to have been in the Ormskirk area for a good part of the 19th - early 20th century.
Any information wouold be of great interest.

Hi John, records which have survived for Ormskirk Workhouse are held at Lancashire Record Office, in Preston. They have an online catalogue called LANCAT. web address www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/record office/services/catalogue.asp
However, I don't think the records go to as far as 1851, but worth having a look. I think they will do look-ups if you email them.

can anyone help me to find my gt gt grandfather William Aspinwall
his wife's name is unknown. His daughter Margaret married my gt grandfather on 20th may 1856 0n the certificate her father william is deceased I have tried looking in the 1841-51 census in the Ormskirk area without success I have found one or two Margaret Aspinwalls
in the census but the ages appear to be way out. as margaret and william georgeson had 11 children I am hoping that perhaps some one else may be researching the same family
Thank You

This society has produced a memorial inscriptions CD for Ormskirk Parish Church, see the sales link on the left hand side. This has a surname index, and instructions on how to find a particular gravestone if it has been transcribed.
The other way is to look at the burial register for the church, but that won't tell you where the grave is, only that they are there, somewhere.
I hope this helps.

I am trying to track down the registers for the Moor St. and Union Workhouse, Ormskirk for 1851. There are 3 inmates/scholars to whom I may be related - Robert Ball (9), John Ball (8) and Ann Johnson (15). I am writing from Australia & cannot do the research myself. I am quite happy to pay any research fees.
